Week 5: Recap for Intermediate (Swing)

Week 5 was the last session on the Swing dance. The patterns that we learned in this season were: 1) Inside Turn to Check; 2) Lady's Forward Swivels; 3) Double Face Loops
For steps 1 & 2, see Week 4 Intermediate recap for detailed description

#3 - Double Face Loops: looks more confusing than it really is >> Man takes a handshake hold w/his partner, and then takes her other hand by placing his L hand over his R (so, his R hand under; his L hand over). Then, as he triples to his L (and turning slightly to his R), he loops his L hand over the girl's head, and then his R over his own head. Then they both do a rock step (she steps back w/L; he steps back onto R). Then they both triple to the other side - he loops his R hand over her head, and his L over his own; then they both rock step. **BUT - just before (or during) the rock step, he must place his R hand on her back. And he 'lets go' with his L hand.

Now . . . his L hand is free, and his R hand is on her back. (foxy move coming up) - He will now dance a triple to his L, but with a strong rotation to the L. Whilst doing this, he will send the gal into his L hand. In other words, rather than his L hand reaching for the gal (boring!!), he will 'send her TO his L hand. He then releases his R hand from her back, and does the 2nd triple to his R, and rock step.

On the last week of dance lessons We have a "wrap up party". Dance classes are not open to the public – members or guests only.

All students bring a food item – ie: appetizers, quartered sandwiches, veggies, or whatever. All foods are placed on tables at the front, and everyone helps themselves buffet style at intermission.

Students can bring their own water, pop, or juice.
