In the first 1/2 of the hour we completely reviewed all that we learned in the Swing dance: 1) Lindy Backspot Turn; 2)Hitch-kick to back swing & loop over her head; and 3) Toe-Toe Swivels (all on previous recaps)
>> Then, for 2nd 1/2 hour we switched over to the Cha Cha. We learned a new pattern that incorporated the hitch-kick action once again. Starting with the back 1/2 of a basic (side on L, back rock, and cha cha to the R), then a front 1/2 basic, but on the triple going to the L, 'side, together, and then the 3rd 'cha' is danced diagonally to the side'. This opens up the man's L side to allow the gal to step 'forward' to begin to dance past him. So, she dances - side, together, forward (cha cha cha). His lead here should be thru a shaping of his body leftward (in the direction of where he is going) rather than just pulling her with his arms.
Then he does a back rock - but "turning". VIP that he does not step back pulling his body away from his partner, but instead - his R foot steps behind his L, but turned inward as he turns his body another 1/4 turn. So he first turns 1/4 turn (on the 3rd cha), and then another 1/4 turn w/his back rock. She steps another step forward & then pivots a 1/2 turn to a back step on her R foot to face him.
Then they both cha cha cha to a hitch kick, flick & turn, cha cha cha in the other direction, repeat same steps, cha cha cha to other direction to a forward rock step, then cha cha cha to other direction, and both do a 'no-hands' turn around.
