Wow! Can't believe it - 9th week already!!
The hour was totally about Samba . . .
1) We reviewed the Samba Walks (Copa) to the open (& passing) Chasse steps (from
Lesson #8)
2) Then we embarked on a scary new venture - Closed position & Progressive Botafogos
The man does 4 (c/b 6) forward Botafogos (step forward on L, then side on the 'ah' (R), and replace L foot in same place. Then the same starting forward onto the R foot. VIP to remember that you do place weight on the 'ah' step, but you don't move your spine entirely over that foot, as then it would be too hard to get out of there.
The gal's part is somewhat harder to do. She is doing backwards Botafogos, but she is almost 'sitting' every time she steps on the '2' count. He will strongly rotate her from side to side, but VIP that she keeps a strong frame & keeps her body tight into his R hand. If she loosens that connection point, it will be almost impossible to do this pattern well. She steps - back, side (turning), & then back again.
