Intermediate class: Fox Trot . . .
We worked on a few variations to attach to promenade steps - pivot turns & grapevine steps . .
1) The pivot turns are just 2 steps that turn the partnership to the R. Man steps to the side onto his L foot, but turning his body onto that step - not just his foot. This foot placement will cause the girl's R foot to land in between his feet. Then he continues to turn to the R & steps forward between her feet w/his R foot. VIP that he does not pull his R foot back, but instead places it 'forward'.
2) Grapevine steps: These are steps that travel to the Man's L - compact turning steps. Please don't take big steps as it will ruin the entire look. The turning is done thru the feet, the knees, and the lower body. The upper body stays facing the partner - turning is from the waist down. Step - side, back (along the same line), side, and forward (again, along the same line). Always turn 1st, and then step. So - turn the hips & knees and step side, turn the hips & knees & step back, etc. etc.
Now, let's put that all together . . .
>> 2 steps into promenade, then a pivot turn, right into 2 more promenade steps, and then 4 grapevine steps. Finish w/a 'side, together'. Note: just as you are about to start into the grapevine steps (guys), slide your R hand down from her back & pick up her L hand w/your R, so that you now have a 2-hand hold (mostly just w/the fingertips). When finishing w/the grapevine steps, replace your R hand onto her back.
