Intermediate Lesson recap - Lesson #3

1st 1/2 of the lesson was spent on reviewing the Fox Trot - promenades to pivot turn, and promenades to grapevine, and finish w/side together. *Points to remember are >> when going into the pivot turn, VIP for both parties to hold their head weight BACK over their left foot - do not collapse forward into your partner. Keep a solid frame - man must not pull his partner into him. Just swing into the turn with the L side of the body. Then R foot clearly forward between her feet. On the grapevines - keep upper body towards each other (not turning), but lots of turn in the lower body. Light and buoyant - compact steps, this is all about 'turning'.

2nd 1/2 hour >> Waltz - Fallaway to slip pivot & turning rock steps. We only got 1/2 way thru this pattern. Man steps forward (slightly turning L), then side, together. By the end of the 3rd step, they should both be positioned in promenade position. The idea of the fallaway is to turn from a forward direction to a backward direction ('cause now you will be traveling backwards). Both parties now dance 2 steps backward. On the 3rd step, the man steps back w/his R foot (turned slightly inward) & rotates his body to the L - WITH HIS L FOOT HELD IN FRONT (thighs

On the last week of dance lessons We have a "wrap up party". Dance classes are not open to the public – members or guests only.

All students bring a food item – ie: appetizers, quartered sandwiches, veggies, or whatever. All foods are placed on tables at the front, and everyone helps themselves buffet style at intermission.

Students can bring their own water, pop, or juice.
